It is known that there are many different components of a country's race. It can be shown in a number of ways from skin color, language they speak, how they act and many more ways. In the Afghanistan country a majority of the people are Pakhtun which can also be spelled Pashtun. The language that the Afghan people speak between the major parts of Afghanistan is Pakistan. Most of Afghanistan is populated with Pashtun people. Throughout the book The Kite Runner the major population is also the Pashtun. Pashtun's background is made up of 38% from the Hebrews. Much more of the origins from the Afghan people is very unknown at this point in time. A way that this compares to The Kite Runner is by comparing the characters physical features. For example Amir and Hassan are both apart of two different tribal groups. Hassan is known to look more like the Asian type with slanted eyes, and a flat nose. Family trees of a tribal group gives rights for success and legacy and there are many disagreements over women. Data shows that there are approximately 11 million Pashtun people in Afghanistan and 25 million in Pakistan within the early 21st century. Within these areas of land there is known to be approximately 60 tribal groups which are known to a certain location. In The Kite Runner, race is a major problem throughout. As Amir is a part of the Pashtun, which is known as an upper class in Afghanistan. Hassan who is Amir's known to be half brother/friend is from the group Hazara. Hazara is a group that is not looked upon like the Pashtun group is because of the difference in how they look and there religion. Most of those who belong to the Hazara tribes are servants. Later on in the book Amir learns that Baba is his real father and that Hassan is his real brother. This was against there religion because the family was in wedlock.
